Mental health care for busy professionals
Austin Mind & Wellness is an independent psychiatry practice in Cedar Park, serving Leander and Austin. I often see professionals in the fields listed below who want thoughtful, consistent care.

When competence hides a problem
I work with people whose work and responsibilities leave little room for being unwell: professionals, entrepreneurs, and small business owners. Many of you are the person others rely on, and you have built your life on being steady.
That strength can hide a problem. You may still be meeting deadlines while something underneath has changed: sleep that no longer restores you, a shorter fuse, trouble concentrating, work that takes more effort than it used to, or more reliance on alcohol or caffeine to get through the day. Because you are still producing, it is easy to call it a busy season.
Asking for help can feel complicated. You may worry about confidentiality, about how it would look if it became known, or about being told to slow down when that is not an option.
Ordinary stress usually has a clear cause and eases when the pressure does. An evaluation is worth considering if symptoms last weeks rather than days, are a clear change from how you normally function, affect your work, relationships, or health, or do not improve with rest. An evaluation does not commit you to treatment. It tells you what is happening and what your options are.
They tend to show up as
- Working longer for the same output
- Irritability, overcontrol, or harsh self-criticism
- Trouble switching off at night or on weekends
- Losing interest in work that used to matter
- Feeling stuck
- Difficulty sleeping or concentrating
Care built around your responsibilities
Your work does not pause while you get care, so treatment has to fit your life. This is how I practice.
A conservative approach to medication
We recommend medication when it is likely to help, at the lowest effective dose, with a clear explanation of your options and a long-term plan. Fewer medications is usually our goal, not more. Our approach is evidence-based, and we will share information and literature when it helps you decide.
Pragmatic
Treatment has to work inside a real schedule. We consider how a medication might affect your weight, focus, sleep, or energy, and we are honest about cost, time, and tradeoffs.
Insightful
Symptoms rarely have a single cause. I look for the pattern underneath, including habits, recurring emotional and relationship patterns, and influences you may not yet be aware of. I also consider sleep, medical conditions, medications, alcohol and caffeine, hormones, and life circumstances. I will tell you what I think is happening, how confident I am, and what remains uncertain.
Actionable
You leave each visit knowing what to do, what to watch for, and when we will check whether it is working. If something is not helping, we change it.
One physician, every visit
You see me at every visit. I know your history and notice change over time, so you do not start over at each appointment.

Common questions from professionals
Can I benefit from care even if I'm doing "well" professionally?
Yes. You can hit every target and still feel out of step with what matters to you. Care gives you an outside view of what is ordinary pressure and what is worth treating, and room to ask whether your effort is going where you want it to. The goal is not to achieve less. It is to point the drive you already have toward what matters most.
Do I have to be a professional, entrepreneur, or business owner to be seen?
No. The practice is built with professionals in mind, but occupation is not a requirement. What matters is how you approach your care.
Can appointments fit around a work schedule?
Appointments are booked in advance so you can plan around them. Telehealth and in-person visits are available for adults located in Texas, for new and established patients.
