Psychiatric evaluation for adults in Cedar Park, TX

Every new patient begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. It is the foundation for everything else: a diagnosis when one applies, a plan you understand, and a clear view of whether medication, therapy, TMS, or a combination fits.

The first visit

A thorough history, not a checklist

Initial evaluations can last up to 90 minutes. We take a detailed psychiatric and social history and review your general medical history. The aim is to understand the person, not only to confirm a label.

It is built for busy professionals, entrepreneurs, and small business owners who want to be understood in context rather than processed in ten minutes.

I bring 20 years of experience as a physician to every evaluation.

The evaluation covers

  • Current symptoms and how they affect work and relationships
  • Family history and temperament
  • Thinking patterns and beliefs
  • Medical conditions and current medications
  • Sleep, alcohol, substances, and daily habits
  • What has and has not helped before
What comes after

From evaluation to a plan

A plan you understand

Recommendations are explained, with risks, benefits, and alternatives, and revisited over time as you respond.

Medication only if it helps

Not every patient needs medication, and your preference is respected. Medication is discussed and decided together.

No refills from old prescriptions by phone

New patients need an initial evaluation before any prescription is written or refilled. This is standard good practice.

Conditions

What an evaluation can address

Common concerns include depression, anxiety and perfectionism, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, insomnia, grief and loss, relationship issues, and life transitions or chronic stress.
Fit

Is this the right practice for you?

A good fit comes first. If another setting would serve you better, you will hear that early, and the office can point you elsewhere.

This practice is a good fit if you

Are an adult who wants to take an active part in your care. Value time with one physician over short visits. Want medication, when it is used, to be thoughtful and conservative.

Another setting may serve you better if you

Need on-demand access, texting, or crisis management services. Expect a stimulant or benzodiazepine refill without a full evaluation. Have acute substance use issues. Are looking for Suboxone, Subutex, or IV or intranasal ketamine treatment. Use Medicare or Medicaid.
If you are in crisis, call or text 988 or call 911. The office does not provide crisis or emergency services.
